Gold medal-winning horses at WEG given Grand Meadows supplements

The Alltech FEI 2010 World Equestrian Games (WEG) was not only a British success, but also highlighted the impact that targeted feeding can have on elite equines, with Grand Meadows-sponsored Philippe LeJeune and William Fox Pitt both taking home gold medals.

Belgium’s Philippe LeJeune was crowned the Individual World Champion of Show Jumping at WEG, achieving four clear rounds on four different horses. Meanwhile, Britain’s William Fox Pitt was part of the gold medal-winning eventing team, also picking up an individual silver medal riding Sackville’s Cool Mountain.

Competing at this top level undoubtedly poses risk factors for equine joints, which is why these and many more riders put their faith in Grand Meadows products. “We’ve been using joint supplements for the event horses for several years now; it’s certainly been a very, very complicated subject, and the ones I’ve used in the past I’ve never been totally convinced about,” William said. “But with Ground Meadows, I really feel I’ve found the answer. I use Ground Flex [the first joint-support product to contain glucosamine] as a general ‘maintenance’ for horses in hard work, and then when they’re coming towards a big competition, I move them on to Mega Grand Flex [a more aggressive supplement introduced to help horses that have not responded to traditional joint supplement ingredient levels.] I couldn’t recommend the products more highly; Mega Grand Flex is the closest thing I’ve found to finding a supplement that really gives a horse all-round joint protection,” William concluded.
